The Aegean Coast is, in many ways, Turkey’s most enticing destination.  Izmir is a great base for day trips to nearby sights and beaches.  The region is rich is in ancient ruins, notably Ephesus, Pergamon and inland at Hierapolis which sits atop the famous pools and mineral formations of Pamukkale. Bodrum and Kuşadası are popular spots for many holidaymakers.
